Today was the day that apprenticeships were announced at the A. Philip Randolph Career Technical Center.
Additionally, Nechole Drake McClendon, from the Detroit Public Schools Foundation, and I presented VVA9’s $2,500 scholarship award to DeShawn Durr. He’s a great young man and I very much enjoyed meeting him. This summer DeShawn and about a dozen other graduating students will be working with Ram Construction, which is involved in renovating the train station for Ford. DeShawn is then planning to go on to community college.
We have done a good thing with the DPS Foundation scholarships! You all should feel very proud! I hope that we can get the members to approve its continuance.”
