On Sunday, May 26, 2019 the dedication ceremony for the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment Memorial will take place at the Chesterfield Township Parks and Recreation site located at 47275 Sugarbush Rd. Chesterfield Twp. 48047. The ceremony starts at 2pm. After the ceremony, attendees are invited to the Sugarbush Tavern, located at 27900 21 Mile Road, Chesterfield for the after-event camaraderie.
In 2006-2007, members of the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, were deployed to Iraq, and 22 were killed in combat operations. After more than a decade of planning, fundraising and construction, the memorial has been completed and this Memorial is the culmination of that endeavor. Chapter 9 is proud to be part of this with the monetary contributions our Chapter has made. All are invited to this event.
Take 1-94 to 21 Mile Road, exit 21 Mile and go east to Sugarbush Rd which is about .5 miles from the expressway. Turn left onto Sugarbush. The entrance to Chesterfield Parks and Rec is about .5 miles down.
