It is with deep sadness and profound respect that Vietnam Veterans of America Detroit Chapter 9 mourns the passing of Randolph M. “Randy” Wright, a proud Vietnam veteran, longtime Chapter 9 member, former Chapter President, President of the Board of Trustees of the Chapter 9 Trust, respected attorney, mentor, and friend. Randy passed away on May 27, 2026, at the age of 80.

Randy was a devoted member of Vietnam Veterans of America Detroit Chapter 9 for more than 40 years. As one of the oldest Vietnam Veterans of America chapters in the United States, Chapter 9 has long stood as a place of brotherhood, advocacy, remembrance, and support for Vietnam-era veterans and their families. Randy’s commitment to that mission was unwavering.

Through his service as Chapter President and as President of the Board of Trustees of the Chapter 9 Trust, Randy helped guide and strengthen one of Detroit’s most respected veteran organizations. His leadership reflected the values that have defined Chapter 9 for decades: veterans helping veterans, honoring service, preserving legacy, and standing together as a community.

A U.S. Army Infantry Officer during the Vietnam War, Randy understood the meaning of service, sacrifice, duty, and commitment. He carried those values throughout his life — in his distinguished legal career, in his leadership, and in his lifelong dedication to supporting fellow Vietnam-era veterans.

For more than five decades, Randy was also an essential part of Berry Moorman PC, where he served as a shareholder, former President, trusted advisor, mentor, and respected leader. His legal talent, sound judgment, and integrity shaped the firm and earned him the respect of clients, colleagues, and the broader legal community.

Randy’s professional work reached far beyond Michigan, including international business, negotiation, dispute resolution, diplomacy, peacebuilding efforts, and work connected to Ukraine’s reconstruction. Yet no matter how far his professional reach extended, Randy never forgot his fellow veterans or the Detroit community he served.

To Chapter 9, Randy was more than an accomplished attorney and respected leader. He was one of our own — a steady voice, a trusted counselor, a generous mentor, and a friend who gave his time, wisdom, and heart to the veterans and families connected to our Chapter.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Randy will remember his character, humility, loyalty, compassion, and deep commitment to others. His leadership helped strengthen our Chapter, support our Trust, and carry forward the mission of Vietnam Veterans of America Detroit Chapter 9.

Randy’s passing is a profound loss for his family, his friends, Berry Moorman PC, the legal community, Vietnam Veterans of America Detroit Chapter 9, the Chapter 9 Trust, and the many veterans and organizations he supported.

On behalf of the members of Vietnam Veterans of America Detroit Chapter 9, we extend our deepest condolences to Randy’s family, friends, colleagues, clients, fellow veterans, and all who were fortunate to know him.

Rest easy, Randy. Your watch is complete, but your legacy will endure through the veterans, families, and community you served so faithfully.
