December 13, 1947  –  January 18, 2025

Timothy (Tim) Sean McGee, aged 77, passed away suddenly on January 18, 2025. He was a longtime member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 9 and a Trustee.  He bravely battled Parkinson’s and Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He was born December 13, 1947 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and spent most of his life in the Detroit area. He graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit High School in 1966, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in 1990.  He joined the Marines in 1966 and served in both Vietnam and North Carolina. He received an honorable discharge in 1974 with the rank of Sergeant.  He spent 30 years in the automotive industry, mostly with the Budd Company. He also worked at the Troy Historical Museum as program director  and Andover High School as theater director.  Tim will be remembered for his community service for many area organizations, including the Michigan Marine Corps League and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 9 where he was a trustee.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Julie McGee, and his children Sean McGee and Colleen Fanelli and five grandchildren.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 North Crooks Road, Clawson, MI (between 14 and 15 Mile Roads), from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (family visitation at 3:00 PM). A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 30th, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 4580 North Adams Road, Troy, MI. He will be buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
